The Dr Utility is a program that comes bundles with each version of Dataplex, which can be used to help troubleshoot potential issues.
When to use it:
When your system won't boot and you have data that you want to recover from your SSD.
How to use it:
The dr.exe
utility is version specific. It comes with your install bundle under tools\DR
. Please read the README.txt
in that directory in case there have been any recent changes.
First, you will need to put the dr.exe
utility onto a Windows 98 bootable USB drive or floppy. You can use this tutorial on making a bootable device, if you don't know how.
Once you have made your bootable device, copy the dr.exe
utility onto the device.
Boot your system using this bootable device. Some systems allow you to select a hotkey that will bring up a boot menu. Otherwise, you will need to go into BIOS and have it boot to this device first.
Once booted, type dr
at the dos prompt.
The utility should come back and tell you if there are any issues. If there are problems you will want to force a recovery. Do this by typing: DR.exe F
At this point, if it is possible, the DR utility should sync back all the data from your SSD and disable Dataplex.
Take out the bootable USB and boot to your hard drive as you would normally.
