If you have to replace your boot drive due to hardware failure and you are running Dataplex on the secondary drive, you will be unable to see this secondary drive when you replace your boot drive.
DO NOT RE-INSTALL DATAPLEX UNTIL YOU DO THIS.
In order to prepare your secondary drive for the new boot drive you will need to run the DR utility.
The DR utility is specific to the version of Dataplex that you are running. You can download the current version of Dataplex or place a ticket with support ([email protected]) and ask for the version of DR that will support the version of Dataplex you were running.
You will need to create a bootable Windows 98 USB drive. Once you have made your bootable device, copy the dr.exe utility onto the device. You will either have gotten this from support or you can copy it from the downloaded Dataplex software at \tools\dr\dr.exe
.
Now you are ready to recover your secondary drive.
Boot your system using this bootable device. Some systems allow you to select a hotkey that will bring up a boot menu. Otherwise, you will need to go into Bios and have it boot to this device first.
Once booted, type dr.exe F
.
Take out the Bootable USB and boot to your hard drive as you would normally.
You should now be able to see your secondary drive that had been cached and your system is ready to re-install Dataplex.
If you replaced your drive and had already installed dataplex before coming to this page and you have only installed Dataplex once since you installed windows, do the following:
Go to add / remove programs
Uninstall Dataplex
Reboot
Now follow the instructions above for the DR utility.
If you have installed a new boot drive and have uninstalled and re-installed Dataplex multiple times trying to see your secondary drive you will no longer be able to go through a Dataplex recovery procedure to get back your data as all the necessary pointers are gone.
At this point you should check out TestDisk this will help to recover your partition table and files
