Dataplex is only officially supported on Windows 7. Some users have been successful in installing Dataplex on Windows 8 using Windows 7 compatibility mode, but this method is not officially supported.
Should you decide to install Dataplex on Windows 8 in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode, this is one method to do so:
Make sure you are using an MBR partition, as Dataplex will not work on a GPT partition.
Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management and select the Disk Management screen.
Right-click on the disk part (the box on the left, not the volume part) of the drive picture and select Properties. This will show you the partition style, which should be "Master Boot Record (MBR)."
Download the latest version of Dataplex and unzip the download bundle.
Open the unzipped folder, right-click on the
install.exe
file, and choose Properties.
Under the Compatibility tab, look for the Compatibility Mode box, and check the Run this program in compatibility mode for: checkbox and select Windows 7 from the drop-down menu.
In the Privilege Level box, check the Run this program as an administrator checkbox.
Click on Ok.
Now run the install.
Again, this procedure is not officially supported. Please proceed cautiously, at your own risk.
