Symptom:
When I try to install Dataplex, my C: drive is not listed in the pull down menu for selecting the target drive.
Possible Reason(s):
If you have more than 4 Drives in your system, sometimes the installer will not pick out your C: drive. This is a problem with versions 1.2.0.1 - 1.2.0.4 of Dataplex.
Troubleshooting:
This issue will be corrected in the next release of software. In the meantime, you can use one of the following two methods to troubleshoot this issue:
Method A - Software Method
Boot up windows.
From the Start Menu, right click on Computer, select Properties, then click on Device Manager.
(Or, from a Run prompt, run devmgmt.msc.)
Expand the Disk Drives menu.
Disable some of the drives, so there are four or fewer drives enabled. (For example, if you have six drives, disable two of those drives.) To disable a drive, right click on the drive label in the Disk Drives menu and select Disable.
Once that is done, you can install Dataplex. Choose your C:
drive as the target drive, and go through the installation process as usual.
DO NOT REBOOT YET!!
After installing Dataplex, but before rebooting, go back into device manager and re-enable the drives you had previously disabled. To enable a drive, right click on the drive label in the Disk Drives menu and select Enable.
Reboot your system.
Check Dataplex status to make sure Dataplex is running normally.
Method B - Hardware Method
Power down your system
Disconnect the data cable going to drives that you don’t need for booting, so there are four or fewer discs connected. (For example, if you have six drives, disconnect two of those drives.)
Power on your system and install Dataplex.
Power down your system.
Reconnect the drives you previously disconnected.
Power on your system.
Check Dataplex status to make sure Dataplex is running normally.
